The reasons guests want to visit Fremont Street are numerous. Draws include viewing the new Viva Vision canopy light show, dining at authentic feeling restaurants, and seeing vintage neon that has been slowly disappearing from the Strip. Our personal favorite reason to visit downtown is gaming though. Table game minimums are more palatable, and slots/video Poker are slightly looser than their counterparts on the Strip.
The city’s oldest casino (the Golden Gate from 1906) still stands on Fremont Street, but many other things have changed. For budget conscious visitors, taking public transportation in the form of the bus can be a great way to get from the Strip to downtown for less. After all, an Uber, or Taxi cab can cost upwards of $20-$30 one way depending on where you depart from.

How to use the Bus to get from the Strip to Downtown Las Vegas
There are two main bus routes that run up and down the Strip – The Deuce, and the SDX (Strip and Downtown Express). While they both run the length of the Strip and to Fremont Street, The Deuce stops at nearly every casino along the route making the ride significantly slower than if you catch the SDX which stops less frequenly.
Both bus options that run between the Strip and Fremont Street also make stops at the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign and the Arts District.

How to Buy Tickets for the Deuce and SDX
Bus tickets are offered in 2 hour, 24 hour, and 3 day increments and cost $6, $8, and $20 respectively. Those options are available for purchase at electronic ticket vending machines which are easy to use and can be found at each Deuce/SDX stop. Additionally guests can pay cash as they enter, but exact change is required.
The quickest and easiest way to buy your ticket, though, is via the RideRTC smartphone app which is available for both IOS and Android devices. Simply purchase your pass and scan the electronic ticket in your phone upon entering the bus.
